This rear home addition was designed to complement a classic Toronto property while creating a functional space for hosting family gatherings and dinners. The goal was to expand the home without losing the character of the original structure.
The build used pressure-treated lumber for the primary framing and all ground-adjacent components to prevent moisture issues and ensure long-term durability. A vaulted ceiling was incorporated to maximize vertical space while preserving the original exposed brick as a focal point inside the addition.
Custom carpentry played a key role throughout the project, including tailored window openings designed for future glass installation. The ceiling was finished with tongue-and-groove pine, adding warmth and texture to the interior.
For the exterior, we installed James Hardie board siding, a low-maintenance, highly durable material well-suited for long-term performance. Custom beams were also added to reflect the architectural style of the main home, helping the new addition blend seamlessly with the existing structure.
